Breakthroughs in treating and preventing diabetes

diabetes-breakthroughs

New discoveries are the order of the day and makes management of diabetes easier and better.  Let us look at some interesting facts.

  • No cow’s milk – if there is a Type 1 diabetic gene in your family – no milk – it can put your children at risk by destroying the beta cells in the pancreas because of allergy.
  • Gluten – is a suspect in triggering Type 1 diabetes.
  • Vit B3 non-flush: will rescue beta cells and restore pancreatic function and decrease or eliminate insulin injections (500mg twice a day).
  • Bilberry – can stop and reverse capillary damage.
  • A spoonful of cinnamon – will help to get excess glucose out of the bloodstream and into the cells and thus lowering your blood sugar levels. It can also lower your LDL and triglycerides. Add half a teaspoon to fruit salad, marinades, stews and curries.
  • Xylitol: Contain a strong anti-diabetic nutrient:  beta-glucan.
  • Chromium – works like metformin.
  • Alpha Lipoic Acid – reduce insulin resistance, protects insulin receptor and protect nerve endings.
  • Reduce insulin levels and you will reduce chronic inflammation.

Diabetes can be classified as a chronic inflammatory disease. We know that your type 2 diabetics have high insulin levels. We also now know that high insulin and glucose levels enhance AA (arachidonic acid) production. Insulin and glucose are essential to convert AA into inflammatory messengers like prostaglandins and leukotrienes. More insulin and more glucose in blood = more AA in body = more inflammation in the body.
