Poetry – Mother Earth , why are you crying?

Poetry – Mother Earth , why are you crying?

Mother Earth , why are you crying?

  Your summers are green

Your autumns are gold

Your winters pure white

And your springs are pink

But mother earth why are you crying?

I can hear the birds sing

The wildebeest migrating in the Serengeti

The whales celebrating the newcomers in St Sebastian bay

And the cheetahs running on the open Namib plains

But mother earth why are you crying?

I can smell the crisp air after the bushveld rain

The sea breeze that the south Easter brings

The big five in the Kruger

And the purifying mountain air in the Drakensberg

But mother earth why are you crying?

Water, you have become bitter

Sea, where has you salt gone?

Mountain air, you are not fresh anymore

Flowers, have you lost your scent?

Mother earth – is that why you`re crying?

Red lava flows from you heart

Your rivers run dry

Tsunami has erupted on your body

Death hangs in the air

Mankind has forsaken you

You are crying because we are dying

Together
