Taize Music at Local Church (Provincial Heritage Site)

This Scottish designed Church was inaugurated in 1871. We have
selected this venue for our music event as it provides the perfect
atmosphere to bathe in the healing powers of the music.
Nicolene and her fellow musicians will create an atmosphere where we
will have the opportunity to express our gratitude, honour and
remember our loved ones who have passed on. Whatever is on your
heart that needs to arise and release will be held and supported in this
awe inspiring evening.

We say farewell as you step into your new life refreshed, renewed and
revitalised.

The Venue & Pricing

You will be welcomed by Liezl & Ian of the Philipollis Hotel.
This charming and quaint 'old lady' with all her wrinkles will embrace you with love and care during your stay.

To keep the retreat pricing reasonable for everyone, accommodation has been worked out on a shared basis. You are able to opt for single occupancy at an additional cost according to availability.

Each room is available for single accommodation on a first come first served basis.

The units are furnished with a double bed in 1 room, and 2 single beds in the loft. Each of the rondavels has a private bathroom with a bath, and towels are provided.

Coffee and tea making facilities are also available.

The hotel has an outdoor area with a swimming pool and braai facilities. Lock-up parking is also available. The hotel has a licensed bar as well as a restaurant where we will enjoy our delicious meals together.  
A highlight of the hotel is meeting Sylvie, the famous resident cat at Sylvie’s Pub. This beautiful cat is part of the furniture at the pub and thrills its patrons with her charm. Unlike the reputation of most cats as being cool and aloof, Sylvie loves human contact and spends much of her time perched on Ian’s shoulder. Plus she will only drink her water out of a glass, how cute is that!

Johannesburg to Philippolis (distance 571km)

  1. Fly from Johannesburg to Bloemfontein & rent a car to drive to Philippolis (approximately 2 hour drive).
  2.  Self-drive* – approximately 5hrs 30min
    3. Greyhound – R1030 return JHB – COLESBERG – JHB
    *bus arrives after midnight in Colesberg – stay in guest house and arrange with us to collect
    you in Colesberg
    4. Ride share – can be arranged amongst retreat participants from any City to reduce costs via Whatsapp group

Climate

By September it is spring and the days are pleasantly warm. The hot weather has not yet set in, so we expect moderate temperatures of between 10°C (min) - 24°C (max).

What to bring

Bring walking / gym shoes –if you want to go for a walk in your free time. Bring comfortable clothes / gym clothes for walking and yoga General dress code: Casual clothes – jeans, shorts and a light jacket for the evening Optional: swim gear if you would like to swim after the retreat.

Arrival Time

Please arrange to arrive at the Philippolis Hotel to check in during the day on Thursday 23 September. Our pre-dinner welcome circle session starts at 4pm.

Retreat Cancellation Policy

If you need to cancel your reservation more than 60 days before the scheduled
retreat date - 100% deposit refund for cancellation 60+ days before event.

• Balance of payment is due no later than 30 September 2021.

• Cancellations made 60-30 days prior to the retreat date are subject to a
cancellation fee and 50% deposit will be retained.

• We regret that any cancellations within 0-29 days or less are subject to a
cancellation fee in the amount of 100% of the retreat cost. Fees are completely
non-refundable and are transferable to a confirmed replacement.

• Exceptions to our policy cannot be made for any reason.

• We do not offer credit for arriving late or leaving early. We are NOT responsible
for your expenses incurred in preparation for any cancelled retreat, such as
airline tickets, loss of work, and/or other costs associated with preparing for your
trip.

• There is no exception to cancellation policy including weather or personal
emergencies, flight cancellations or delays.

• We recommend purchasing Travel Protection Insurance through a qualified
agent.

• If we must cancel a retreat, there will be 100% refund on all funds received to
date.
